More on those Vintage Pretties ......

Those Vintage pretties from yesterday have become adorable heat pack covers

I simply made a quilted cover and had fun playing with old doileys, vintage ribbons and laces and little embellishments

I popped a zip in the back to make removal super easy and then made a bag a fraction smaller to fit inside filled with lavender buds and wheat

I am in the process of making some more as these ones are already on the shelves at Chez Moi

Each one is different and unique

What do you think ?

Vintage Pretties

I have a BIG collection of vintage pretties.  I have been collecting all of my bits and pieces for a very long time.  Part of being frugal is using what we have and I have decided that it's time to start using up everything in my stash.

I came up with an idea for a new gift line which can be sold in a couple of the stores I send my handmade pretties off to.

I have had lots of fun playing around with it all

And creating something unique and one of a kind

But also something useful

That would make a lovely gift for almost anyone

I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed the process ........

It's been so much fun

I'll be back tomorrow to show you what I've made

Tilda Cushion

I decided not to dilly dally about and to get my Tilda Cushion finished so I spent some time picking out buttons.

And in no time at all I had the buttons sewn on, the prairie points made and a zippered back made.

I am so happy with.  That's another item marked off my list that is finished.

I have some plans for sewing over the long weekend.  I'll show you tomorrow what I will be playing with.

Tilda

My gorgeous new friend Karen owns a little French gift shop in the centre of Hobart (Chez Moi) and she has a little sewing room bursting with lots of goodies including Tilda products and fabrics.

I do some sample making for her in return for crafty goodies.  It's a wonderful trade for us both.  I get to make her a sample and also get some lovelies for my own stash. It's a Win/WIN - Nice and frugal !

I really enjoyed making this cushion called "Vintage Buttons"  designed by Sally Giblin

I decided to make one for myself too.  I dug into my TILDA stash and pulled out the last of one of my favourite prints and put it together with another of my favourites.

I still need to sew the buttons on, do the prairie points and make the back but it's well on the way to being another finish. I'm hoping to get it done today.

Do you barter goods for services ?  I'd love to do more of it.

A New Friend

Are you on Instagram ?  Harry has his very own account and regularly posts photo's and videos of himself.  You can find him @harrythemanx.  He certainly does know how to relax doesn't he ?

I recently made a new friend who has become a very dear friend.  She has a massive love of all things Tilda just like me so we get along famously !  She recently arrived with a beautifully wrapped gift for me.  Wrapped and adorned with Tilda of course.

And this is what was inside.

It is stunningly gorgeous isn't it ?  Thank you so much Karen.  I will cherish it always.

My cats have a sleeping bag.  I will leave you today with this image of Harry trying to get inside with Boo ......  He is such a rascal !

Linen and Lace

It's been wet, wild and wintery over the past few days here in Tasmania.  We had to dig a massive trench in our neighbours front paddock yesterday as all of their water run off was coming onto our property and flowing towards our house.  I think we averted a major crisis !  Toby has the right idea.  He is very hard to get out of bed on days like this.

I occasionally do a little sewing for some local gift shops.  They are both out of stock so I have had to whip up a few more journals.

I just love the look of plain and simple linen and lace

This time I have added some lace flowers to some smaller journals

I decided that they would look a bit more special if they were adorned with some little glass seed beads.

I am so pleased with them - They are just so sweet and delicate

And have that lovely old worlde feel

I enjoyed the beading process which is quite new to me but lot's of fun

This one is my favourite - It may have to stay with me I think .........

And then I made some larger journals with linen, laice doileys and gorgeous hand painted Theodora Cleave buttons.

I always have so much trouble choosing buttons as they are all so beautiful.

Have a lovely day and try to stay dry if you are in Australia.  I am linking my journals up with Cozy Little House's Tweak it Tuesday today.

An Achievement !

I have to admit to having very low motivation recently.  BUT I decided to pick myself up and try to get a finish this weekend and joined in Chooky's Chookshed Sew Along.  I have plenty of UFO's to choose from (This is supposed to be the year of the UFO for me) but I finally settled on the bunny cushions that I begun back in April.

Last night at around 8.30pm I stitched the final stitches into the binding on the last cushion.

I am so pleased with them.  They are a perfect pair.

Even Toby gave them his seal of approval.  Now I am going to pop them away for (WTKL) When the Kids Leave .......

I am feeling so inspired that I may try to get another little finish today.

Thanks so much Chooky and Friends for the motivation - It feels amazing to have a finish.

Bunny Progress

After a busy evening last night and some time this morning I am pleased to say that the applique on my bunny cushions is now finished.  The bunnies were a design by Hat Creek Quilts from another project.  I fell in love with them and wanted some cushions in a vintage style with them.  They are wool and cotton applique on a linen background.

I really have fallen in love with wool.  It is so easy to work with and gives such a lovely finish

And the little touch of cotton fabric peeking out gives it a lovely look too.

So today I am quilting them and hopefully making them into cushions.  Back to work I go.  Are you stitching along with Chooky and friends too ?

Cyber Stitching

I'm joining in the cyber stitching weekend with Chooky and friends to celebrate the Chook Shed's 4th Birthday this weekend.  It's been a big decision to choose which project to stitch as I have SO many on the go but finally I decided to try and get my woolen bunny cushions finished, or at least the applique done.

I did get a little bit of a late start on them today though.  It is forecast rain here for quite a few days and I was keen to get our burn pile from the summer trimmings in the garden lit before it got too soggy.

We have lots of winter pruning to add to it soon so we needed to get rid of what we had.  I am pleased to say that it is now all done and we have a neat little pile of charcoal.  Bring on the rose pruning in the coming weeks.

I'm off now to continue stitching my bunnies.  Head on over to Chooky's blog to see who else is stitching with us.
