Some finishes

I've had quite a few weeks lately.  I am doing some sample sewing for a local store that sells adorable Gifts, French style goods and also Tilda.  This little doll kit is called Roxy Long Socks.  I really enjoyed making her and think I might make a Tilda version next.

She would make an adorable gift for a child - Chez Moi will have kits in store this week if anyone would like one.  They send all around the world so just get in touch if you want your very own Roxy.

I recently purchased a kit from Hat Creek Quilts for a table runner and in usual fashion it sat in a drawer unopened but a surprise visit from Dawn for my birthday last weekend resulted in a day long trip to Hat Creek Quilts which inspired me to get it out and make a start.

I have to tell you that I have totally fallen for wool applique and the processes that Deidre teaches.

It must be some sort of record for me as I finished the whole table runner in 6 days.  It's now ready to be sent off for quilting.  I'm going to have another quite day today in the sewing room.  I wonder what I will get up to ?  I have no plans but will just see what happens.

I hope you are having a lovely weekend.

Stitching

I have not been too idle in the stitching department and was asked by a local store to make some samples from the TILDA club.  I am always up for helping designers/stores with samples when my health and time permits so I took up the challenge.  The first project I tackled was a little bag designed by Lynette Anderson.  It's really sweet isn't it?  It was the most recent project from the club.  The bag is now on display in the most gorgeous French Store we have in Hobart called Chez Moi.  They have a Tilda room in their store and it is well worth a look or two or three !!

Next up was the previous Club Project which is a cushion designed by Sally Giblin.  I really enjoyed stitching this one.

It came together beautifully.  I have even begun to stitch another one in a different colour way for myself.

I've also been working on a series of little framed stitcheries which will be offered for sale at Chez Moi

I've been using some of my favourite variegated threads and my most favourite companion craft products which are the little hand painted buttons by Barb of Theodora Cleave.  I can't tell you how much I love these buttons ! Barb sells direct to the public from her web site.  You won't be able to stop adding them to your cart - They are just adorable !!  I use them to embellish just about anything and they are a wonderful companion to my stitcheries.

I am working on a whole series of similar stitcheries - all with different buttons.

They will be in store at Chez Moi in the next week or so.

Thanks

Thanks for all of the lovely messages and the welcome back.  Lots and lots has happened in the past 12 weeks including having 3 of my grand children and their parents move in with us whilst they save to buy their very own home.

It is so difficult for young families these days to pay child care fees, rent, both work and also save to buy a home.  They just find themselves chasing their tails and not really getting anywhere.  We offered for our oldest daughter Sam, her partner Tom and the 3 grand children to move in with us so they can save and buy their own home.

They moved in over Easter and now I get to go to bed with grand baby snuggles and wake up with them.  What a treat !

It's meant a few compromises for us all including hubby and I creating a bed sit room which we sit in and sleep in as well as being part office and sewing room as well.  We quite like being in the smaller space and have our privacy and time together still.  It seems to be working well.

I also get to make some memories with the grandies like propagating and planting their very own aloe vera plants recently.

They are having fun watching them grow.

Another development is that Josh has begun to play wheelchair basketball as well as Aussie Rules Football.  He is in Victoria at the moment representing the state in Aussie Rules.  They play their first game today and I am anxiously waiting to hear how he goes.  He is such an inspiration my boy - Never lets anything get him down.  He makes me so proud.

I'm off now to visit with my cousin and to take her a very special gift.

3 Months

It's been almost 3 months since my last post.  So much has happened - Some good some not so good but I have come through the other end which is great news !

I have lots to tell you in the coming weeks including that I now have a little part time job which I can do from home - How good is that ?

Here are my 3 kitties, Dreamer, Boo and Harry - Hasn't Harry grown ?  He is doing really well and is off to the vets next week for his little "boy" operation.  I haven't told him yet ........

I decided to take my hair back to it's natural colour with a few purple highlights.  I still get a shock when I look in the mirror but one of the things I have come to terms with in the past few months is discovering "me"and accepting "me"for who I am and what I am.  I have decided that I like the "real" me and that includes not being a "bottle" blonde anymore.

And I have a new little friend.  This is "Violet" - She has a few cousins who I will introduce you to in the coming weeks.  I just adore her and I am sure she will have lots of little adventures that we can tell you about.

Until next time. (I promise it won't be long this time)
