Mother Nature

This morning as I contemplated life and the awful week that lay behind me I wandered around my garden with my trusty iphone camera to take some shots of my flowers in bloom.

Mother nature truly is wonderful isn't she.  She has sprinkled my garden with so much beauty this season.

It's easy to sometimes get so caught up in life that we miss what is right in front of us

The simple pleasures, the beauty and the aromas of mother nature

I am so blessed to have an abundant garden even though I cannot care for it like I used to since the deterioration of my spine

But luckily she has forgiven me the lack of care and looked beyond the weeds to sprinkle my garden with beauty

If you are a longtime follower of my blog and designs you would know that flowers almost always feature in my designs.  I just love their prettiness and uniqueness

After my little wander I have come back into the studio full of renewed enthusiasm so I hope it lasts throughout the day.  Friday's can be particularly long can't they?

I hope you get through your Friday with ease and enjoy the weekend which is just over the rise.

Today I am linking in with Cath's Fun Friday Favourites.

Hugs and Blessings,

Christmas is coming

The weather is beginning to be more reliable as we draw closer to Christmas here in Australia which means closer to Summer.  The warmer weather and the filling of shelves in the stores with Christmas goodies always makes me think about my favourite book.

Each year I read it again.  I just love it.  Have you read it?  If not do yourself a favour and buy yourself a copy to read this year.  It's inexpensive to purchase and  I am certain you will enjoy it.

In the Christmas Spirit I have also released a Christmas Stitchery Set.  The little kit comes with Fabric, Thread and Iron on Transfer for just $10 over in the STORE or you can purchase it on CRAFTSY for just $2.50

I've been spending a bit of time doing some upcycling too and turned these egg cups and plates

Aren't they cute ?

And I've purchased some more plants for the garden.  These are Pelargoniums - They are so pretty.

And today I have purchased some road side home grown strawberries for dessert tonight - There is just nothing better than NON supermarket produce.

And last week we helped my grandmother celebrate her 91st birthday.  My grand mother taught me to knit and sew.  My happiest childhood memories are of time spent with her on her self sufficient property.  She was such a hard worker, wonderful cook and made everything from scratch.  Up until a few months ago nan was still 10 pin bowling.  She isn't well at the moment so is taking it easy - But at 91 she is entitled to.

Until next time,

My Thread Keeper Give Away

I have such a love of specialty variegated threads and have built quite a collection.  BUT I have always had an issue with storing them.  With that in mind I decided to design a Thread Keeper which is perfect for the job.  It has one of my favourite sayings on the front "A Stitch A Day Keeps The Blues Away ....." Never a truer word was spoken !

I wanted to design something that would hold at least 20 yards of each colour on a sweet little wooden board which I sell over in MY STORE.  And I also wanted room for my Embroidery Thread Rings as well.

They make it so much easier to hold the threads that I am currently using for a project.

So with all of this in mind my new pattern was created.  I have called it "The Thread Keeper"

It has been a real asset to my thread collection and I am currently making my third one !! (I have way too many threads but I'm not a thread addict or anything like that ...... )

I have been super busy printing PATTERNS.  Cutting KITS and Uploading the digital pattern to my DIGITAL STORE and whilst I was doing that I thought it might be fun to have a give away.

So to enter simply leave a comment on this post and make sure that you are subscribed to my newsletter (Sign Up form is in my side bar).  If you want an extra entry simply regramm my instagramm post and tag me @shabbyrosestudio

It's that easy.

Winner gets a printed pattern pack with Iron On Transfer, 11 Thread Boards and an Embroidery Thread Ring and I am happy to post it anywhere in the world.

Winner will be drawn next Friday night at 5pm AEST.

Good Luck.

Glorious October

Wow what an October we have had here in Tasmania.  It's 31 degrees here today and just glorious.

Haven't my little cacti babies that I planted earlier in the year grown?

You can't even see my vintage teapot now - I just love them.  I must find some more containers and do some more planting.

I've had a big few weeks of stitching and have just finished Block 2 of the Thread Club.  I have stitched this one in Threadworx Peaches N Cream.  It is so pretty !

The information on the THREAD CLUB can be found HERE.

I have been working on a brand new Block of the Month to be offered in 2016.  The threads are just gorgeous.

And it is stitching up just beautifully.

This is part of Block 1 completed.  I have a long way to go but at least it's a start.  I'm thinking of calling it "Spring Garden".  What do you think?

Lucy Boston

One of the things that has been keeping me extra busy lately is my Lucy Boston Blocks.

I love putting the fabrics together to produce a unique block.

I am also in the process of writing a book to be released in the next few months which shows lots of different ways to use the block using 1" honeycombs and 1" squares.

I also run a Lucy Boston POTC Club which offers 1 block every 2 weeks to subscribers.  Each Kit contains all fabrics, papers and instructions to make each block.  It makes the process so easy for people.  Lots of customers tell me that the hardest thing for them is deciding which fabrics to choose so that is all done for you.

The club details can be found HERE

And now the club packs have been dressed in new clothing.  I love the new packs.

So if you ever thought you might like to try these blocks now is the time.

A Day Off

My new boss (me) has kindly given me the day off today to get my hair done so I will have a 3 day weekend.  I am taking Lucy Boston POTC blocks along with me for company.

I have a sewing date with friends tomorrow but the rest of the weekend's spare time will be dedicated to making handmade vintage inspired goodies for one of the faces of my new business.

I've been making these gorgeous flowers from upcycled fabrics and embellishing different bits and pieces with them including jars that I have been turning into sweet pretty vases.

I really enjoy the creative freedom of making One of A Kind items.

I've been making these lavender sachets too.

I'm hoping to do some more hand dying of vintage linens

And some time to make some more OOAK Pin Cushions

I hope that you find some time to be creative this weekend too.

Hugs,

Fee x
