Thank you so much for your encouraging messages and e-mails. Even though I still have man flu I am feeling much better this week.
It is not until your circumstances change and that you stop for a little while to assess things that you realise how much things have got on top of you.
We live on a 3 acre block of land which was the reason we bought this property nearly 8 years ago. I am ashamed to say that we have neglected the place in the past year or so badly...... The gardens are over grown, the lawns long, the weeds thriving and the flower pots empty.
How sad I felt when I walked around the property on the weekend and realised just how bad things were.
On the upside I now have some time to do something about it. I know it isn't going to happen quickly as the old body isn't what it used to be but hubby and I have committed to spending 1 hour each outside each day working on getting the place ship shape.
I began on the weekend by potting up some flowers for spring and summer colour.
I totally adore this pot plant stand and when I saw the white paper daisy at the nursery I knew it was perfect for it.
I re-filled the wine barrel with fresh potting mix and planted some fancy lettuce. Here they are just after there first drink. I'm pleased to report that they look much stronger today.
I felt so much better once the pots around the place began to fill with seedlings.
And I even took some cuttings and potted them up. I have grown many of these in the same way over the years. They will be so pretty together once they settle into their new home.
I am so ashamed to show you this shot. Especially if you are a long term blog reader as you would have seen how much I treasured and cared for my veggie garden. Look at it now. Disgusting ! Well that's about to change. It will take me a long time but I am determined to get it back into shape if I can.
Wish me luck.
Hugs,
Fee xx

Hi Fee you have a good idea a little bit at a time and it will all be looking beautiful again before you know it,enjoy your day my friend.xx
The best way to tackle it is a little at a time then you will see your results... don't be so hard on yourself, with a full time work and a online business you have a good reason as to why things got out of your control... love the white daisies in the pot stand xxx
It will be thriving and gorgeous before you know it x
Best way to tackle things - a little at a time. It will be looking great before you know it. Love the daisies & their pot. Hugs, xx
Dont be so hard on yourself - there are only so many hours available - work, your business, renovating , gardening - you can't do it all and stay sane.
It will all come together over time.
An hour a day sounds perfect and you will get there. Perfect time of the year to be outside, mild, sunny, beautiful - have fun.
Sounds like a plan Fee, slowly but steadily you'll get the garden back to its former glory. must be that time of year as I also have just done some potting up as well, good luck and take it slowly :) Barb.
Don't worry Fee. My vegie patch looks a bit like yours too. Nelson and I did get there yesterday and pulled out the grass (yes, grass) and weeds and filled the trailer. Hopefully, we get it ready for planting things soon. We also want to fix up the chicken run and get more chickens. It's been about 2 1/2 years since a fox took our girls and I miss their lovely fresh eggs.
Slowly slowly and it will get done keep posting and we will all help with encouraging words and hugs :)
You'll be surprised at how much you can get done in an hour! I have always gardened in short spurts, usually when I'm taking a break from quilting, housework etc. DH had to learn this when he retired - it isn't important to get the job done in 1 day.
Good luck Fee, you will get there in the end, it does take time and an hour a day sounds like a great plan. My yard is a bit the same way so I might just join you over the next few months. Hugs......
Hi Fee, It's almost the end of our gardening season here in the northeast U.S. I completely understand how easy it is to let things go especially at the end of the season when mentally we're gearing up for the next season. Your committment of an hour a day will see great changes and that will encourage and motivate you to continue. Your property is beautiful and once you get it back under control it will be easy to keep up. You are doing a fabulous job. And your openness and honesty are to be commended :)
It always amazes me how a little time digging in the dirt calms my spirit. I'm not a big gardener, and it still works. Good luck with all your projects.
