Just One Life ......

I guess none of us need reminding that we get just one life on this earth and how important it is to make sure we look after ourselves.  7 Years ago I used to smoke - I saw the light and one day decided that I didn't want to smoke any longer so I just stopped. It wasn't easy - Tobacco is a destructive addictive drug and I fought the usual demons for a very long time - But I won..........  Then the weight began to build over my frame.  I have gained 40kg's over that 7 year period.  Just under 6 kilograms per year.

2 Months ago I decided enough was enough so I began to watch what I ate - Or rather how much I ate and the quality of the food I was consuming.

I have made many sacrifices and almost have myself off sugar - except for fruit which I won't give up !  I no longer drink soft drink and limit myself to 1 cup of coffee a day.  I drink copious amounts of water and I just purchased myself a juicer so our family can enjoy pure fresh vitamins.  I am pleased to say that I have kissed goodbye just over 8 kilograms in 10 weeks. So I am heading towards losing 2 years worth of weight gain in the coming weeks.

I am extremely proud of myself and know that I have such a long way to go but just wanted to share with you that it can be done....  Baby steps......  You are totally worth the effort - Remember that.

For me the next little barrier is excercise.  I have had 2 knee reconstructions over 20 years ago which have now worn out but I bought a treadmill and try to do a little on it every day.  Slowly but surely this weight is coming off !!  What about you - Do you have any tips for me or any demons of your own you're trying to battle?  A problem shared is a problem halved.

Love and Hugs,

A New Design ..................

I have been super busy in the studio working on a Brand New design for a Brand New Club beginning on the 1st September over at Fee's Shabby Shack.

I am so excited about it and really want to show you but I can't as it's not finished yet - But I can tell you that if you intend on joining in the fun (Just $5 per month (for 10 months) for an instant download pattern each month) and you will need a pack of Moda Pre-Cut Hexagons and a Charm Pack or 13 Fat 1/8ths that co-ordinate together nicely and 2 Metres of White Quilters Homespun + 50cm of Binding Fabric. And of course some co-ordinating embroidery threads (about 7).

It won't be long and all will be revealed.  It is going to be so pretty and lot's of fun !

Some Sewing & Treasure Hunting

I have been very busy in the stitching department the last week or so.  Another Block of Garden Treasures has been finished and we are now up to Month 9 - Not long to go now.

I have been playing with some of this for a new design.  The quilt will be released during Fee's Shabby Shack's Birthday Celebrations next month.  I will be working my little fingers to the bone until then but I am very excited about this new project - It is coming together beautifully.

If you have been a long time blog follower you would know that I love to treasure hunt.  I visit my favourite haunt every Wednesday but I have not uncovered very much for weeks.  This week I was pleased to find a "Diggers" Fruit and Vegetable Garden book which is now sitting next to my recliner ready for me to read from cover to cover.

The fruit and vegetable garden are high on our agenda this year and as soon as the weather takes up we will be spending some time in it.  Hopefully this new book for the bargain price of $3.00 will give us some much needed tips.

And look at this beauty !  It is a minature (1/2 sized) wicker basket which is almost identical to one my grandma had.  I fell in love instantly when I saw it from a distance.  As soon as my eyes spotted it I knew it was mine - no matter what the cost as I know these baskets are highly collectible.

But as you can see from the price tag I got the bargain of the year !!!  Totally love it !  Now I just have to decide what I will display in it.......  Some lovely rolled up Greengate teatowels would be nice don't you think?  Any ideas.
