It has been a blustery day here today and tonight a grass fire started in the paddock opposite us. It is easy to see how quickly a fire spreads as it was a matter of seconds before it had taken off fuelled by the wind.
Luckily the wind was going in the opposite direction but we hosed our front area just in case there were sparks.
To show you how close the fire was this is taken from my front door...... The firies were wonderful and extinguished it in no time. Well Done Boys !

So good that the wind was blowing the fire away from you. Much too close all the same. So pleased it was brought under control quickly.

That was close... the fires in the Western Australian Murchison area have been really bad this summer and there is still a huge one burning up near Carnarvon xxx
Glad you are safe. It's a bit suspicious that the fire would start in an open paddock near a road at night. Lightning strike or human negligence? On the positive side at least you have a fire break opposite the house now for the rest of summer. Wishing you much rain and cooler days :).
Cheers,
Robyn
How scary for you...pleased everything turned out OK

Have a super great sewing and stitching day!
That must have been very frightening Fee, we spent 4 days in Marysville last week,a beautiful place, but a community still struggling to get back on its feet. it sounds like you were very lucky.
I'm a bit slow Fee but so glad to see youre safe and well.......those firefighters to a wonderful job don't they.....especially the volunteer rural fire brigade! Not enough credit given to them!
