A Thankyou, Gardening, First Sign of Spring & New Design Inspirations

It seems that there are plenty of us that are feeling the same about today's world.  It is nice to know that there are lots of kindred spirits.

I have been given lots and lots of ideas and will work on some tutorials and blogs about them.

The lovely Miche'le sent me a really easy lovely way to scent your home with a vanilla chocolate smell.  Place equal parts of water and vanilla essence into the top of an oil burner and light a candle underneath.  This smells lovely.  Try it for a really cheap alternative.

I took a wander around our garden today and I am ashamed to say that it is much neglected.  I feel really sad that it has got to this point.  A health issue that I regularly battle prevents me from doing anything too active and gardening just hasn't hit the radar for me in recent months (many months).

So today I gave myself 1 hour.  Just 1 hour of tidying and I will see how I go and hopefully I can continue doing little bits at a time - Baby Steps......... The wine barrel looks much nicer now that it is weeded and has a new inhabitant.

Mr & Mrs Kiwi Fruit are hardly recognisable in this mess

And the Passionfruit looks unkept

But after being weeded and tidied they look more respectable

And the passionfruit has been clipped back up to resume it's happy wandering.  The first signs of spring are around the garden and I had enough spring bulbs to pick a bunch for my home.  There is nothing nicer than a lovely vase of fresh flowers to beautify the home.

The vase lasted on the bench for 5 minutes.........  Until it was knocked over and smashed.  I wonder who could of done that?

Here they are in a new vase.  There maybe a little clue to the culprit in this shot......

Do you think he looks guilty?  He's lucky that we have a cat show tomorrow or he would have been grounded for his efforts.  I think his sprinkle of cheese on tonight's dinner is in serious jeopardy.

I am going to spend the remainder of this afternoon in my studio playing with these fabrics for a new quilt design.

And with this a table runner in the making

And some pretties requested by a magazine who asked for more of my "pretty shabby things" - I think that sums my style up to a "T" don't you think??

I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend and have a little time to appreciate the beauty around you and be thankful for some of the small pleasures of life.

Hugs - Fee XX

Lovely post Fee. I agree, even half an hour in the garden can make a difference. Have lots of fun sewing. That's how I've spent my afternoon. Hugs.

That must have been a very satisfying tidy in the garden. Your little feline friend probably doesnt feel a bit guilty if anything like my Amber. We had to remove anything remotely breakable from the sunroom where she lives. Cats are so curious. Hope the cat show went well.

I'm glad you were able to get out and work in your garden. Mine is looking rather scruffy. It's coming to the end of summer here in NY. My garden is mainly day lilies and only a few plants are still blooming. The rest look all weedy and dried out.
I love the expression on your kitty's face.

Puss does look guilty and I'd stick to short heavy based vases as tall elegant ones aren't safe from a curious cat. Maybe he just wanted to smell the flowers? The garden looks nice.
I love the pretty fabrics that will be in the new quilt design.

Hi Fee.

Glad to see you were able to get out into your garden. I am not a gardener in any sense of the word, but it does change your mood when you have been playing in the soil doesn't it.

I love the description from the magazine "pretty, shabby things". That is a great description and very you.

Debra

Great gardening inspiration Fee - there are definitely spots in mine that need a little TLC - especially now that the days are drawing out and there is that glorious hint of spring in the air:)
