Winter in Tasmania is such a hard time to find motivation. It was -4 degrees here this morning. Yep that's right 4 below zero !! No wonder I had to kick the cats out of the bed to make it this morning. I have been struggling with the flu all week and my motivation levels are very low.
So I decided to go out and buy some colourful seedlings which will flower over the next few weeks and brighten the place up a bit. Now I just have to go outside and find some nice containers to put them in.

The sun is shining here at the moment but I think it is still only a balmy 7 degrees.
So instead of sewing yesterday I decided to bake. One of my favourite things is the scent of fresh baking on a cold winter's day. I have joined in with Lisa & Sarah's weekend baking blogs.
Once I got out all of my ingredients I made a start. This weekend was Spiced Carrot Cake
With an Orange Cream Cheese Frosting
Which is delicious !!
And Raspberry Shortcake because it is Sam's favourite and she is coming for dinner tonight.
I just went looking for the boys and guess where they are???? Yes sleeping in amongst all of the cushions and pilows on our bed. What a life.........
I am going to go out and brave the elements now and do some potting. Wish me luck.
Before I go I just wanted to send my love to the people of Norway. My heart goes out to you all.

Pretty hard to get motivated when it is so cold but I think you found just the right creative outlet... the carrot cake looks delicious Mmmmm!!
Yummy. If not sewing, there is definitely mojo and creativity in your other activities.
Take heart - winter is half over and hopefully spring will arrive right on time for you.
Your boys definitely know where the best places are.
Itis hard to be motivated in the cold weather... but looks like the cooking is wonderful... yummo....
Hugz
I take it that's Celsius - which is chilly, but not too bad, lol. Your mojo tends to fly away when you have flu, sweetie, I hope you feel better! Your cake looks very yummy, and the boys are darling!
Sending my love to Norway too....so incredibly sad.
its very hard to get motivated when you are so cold, what a great lot of baking you have done and aren't the boys funny such a cute pic of them, lol.
Yes, my motivation is zero at the moment too. If I wasn't so lazy I'd cook something nice too, even though I tend to eat heaps of it. I particularly love cream cheese icing. Mmmm.
Yum Fee! At least you found the motivation to do something!
Hi Fee. Merry Mojo will return...just chill out (excuse the pun). Sounds like its been pretty full on in your life the last few weeks...Merry will return when theres room for her!!!
Sorry you were under the weather.. and I'm sure your mojo will pick back up again.. Baking is delightful, and I love to do it.. I always worry about the added weight it is going to put on me. If I am going to go for it though, cream cheese frosting is a DREAM!
HOpe you're feeling heaps better soon. We have those minus degree mornings too - but at least our days are mostly in the high teens!
I can't think of a better substitute for sewing than baking, especially in the cold weather as with the oven going at least you're warm :D. That carrot cake and the frosting looks delicious. Lol, and you'll need the extra kilojoules to keep you warm too!
Cheers,
Robyn
Yummo nice cakes...and a warm home
the cats look very happy .....
OH, what a Yummy cake! Must make something similar this week, lol! And those pansy's - Gorgeous!!
I have a hard time getting anything done when it is cold - and it is usually a good 20+ degrees warmer here at this time of the year! Atm I am (still) in my flannelette pj bottoms, a top and a jumper, with my uggs. And my hands are feeling frozen!! I really feel for you - and anyone who (has to) experience colder weather than me ... I am definitely NOT a fan of the cold!
Yep, Winter kicks the old mojo around that's for sure. I always end up 'hibernating' a bit in winter. Happens every year! I love your little flowers.. they're beautiful. And your cooking... well that's just not fair... I am now totally craving something delicious and sweet... and the cupboard is bare!!!! Take care Fee and try to stay warm.... I'm thinking you should curl up back in bed with the fur balls!!!(at least until Spring!!)
Your lovely Christmas stitchery kit arrived this morning...what a wonderful 'pick me up' it was! I was still feeling a little down as my 13 y/o cat died on Friday night but the package was a lovely surprise!
Your carrot cake looks really srummy. Your two certainly know where to find the hot spots! Hugs Mrs A.
Oh my, the sweets sound wonderful. Will you share the recipes with us?
