As a lover of "sayings" this one is very apt for me today. It is 2nd May and I have drawn a line in the sand so to speak..... This day will mark a historic day in the history of my blog.
I am closing some doors and re-opening old and new ones. Sometimes you just have to get back to basics to follow your true path...... Do I have you confused yet? Well you are not alone because I am too........ But what I do know is that I want an uncomplicated life, one of no deadlines, no self beatings and no personal pressures. I want to do what I do because I love it and for no other reason and to do it with joy and at leisure.
If you are a long time reader of my blog you will know that my friends, family and home are the most important things in my life and that of course is always my first priority. My sewing and pets are also great loves. I feel like I have put myself under immense pressure for a long time to run my little home business successfully, keep my ebay shop ticking over, keep my house and everyone in it happy and to keep producing new projects continously. So much so that I have ignored "me".
As from today there will be no more personal pressures, no more self beatings because I missed a deadline that I put on myself and no more self scrutiny which is my biggest enemy.
As from today I am going to sew because I feel like it - I am going to spend countless hours in the sewing room sewing whatever takes my fancy - No lists no deadlines and certainly no expectations. I am going to bake - For no reason only because I can......... I am going to do the things I love all day long........
So what has brought on this carefree new attitude??? Permanent Monday's off for a little while.
A day for me to do what I want to do !! A "Fee" day and I am going to take this new opportunity with both hands and embrace it.
"EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON" - I am a firm believer in that and this new day of freedom I believe is a chance to regain some of the joys in my life and to shed the pressures that seem to have been placed on my shoulders for some time.
Look for the new but subtle changes as I shed some of lifes responisbilities if only for one day a week.
Now let me show you what I have been doing this weekend.
I finished Block 1 of Lynette Anderson's New Christmas Quilt.
I started Block 1 of Gail Pan's Berries and Bluberries Quilt
And I have Block 4 of Anne Sutton's Henrietta's Whiskers" ready to stitch.
So I will be off now to enjoy my first "Fee" Day and to pop by all of my favourite blogs at leisure with a nice cup of coffee. I'll be back soon to tell you all about it.
Hugs - Fee XX

You Go Girl. Have a great day. When the little joys in our lives turn into chores it is time to reconsider priorities. I have very limited time to sew due to outside the home work but I got so bogged down with what other people want that I too forgot about me. Time to bring the fun back. Have a great day! :) hopemitch@yahoo.com
Enjoy your "Fee" days - you deserve each and every one!
Good for you Fee enjoy your life you only get the one in this world so go for it girl
Sounds like a great idea for you. I tried sewing school uniforms for a while for money, but I hated every second of it. Sewing should be fun and relaxing.
Good for you, Fee! You're a wise woman. Enjoy your 'me' time.
Have fun on your Fee days, enjoy and take time to smell the roses.
Fee, I hope you enjoy each and every moment of your 'you' time. One of my favorite sayings is "Everything happens for a reason". Hope the pressures let off for you.
Take care
Good for you Fee, I did that a while ago. My blog, my time, my decisions..! Me time is very important, good luck with it and stick to your guns...

I so feel the same, I have been working nearly 20 years in the industry and the last nearly 4 years my own business.
I have decided to stop teaching for a while from the end of June and can't wait to no longer have to think about getting samples, class notes and so on ready.
Will still do my longarm but not as much, I find I need to do what I want without feeling guilty.
Have fun....
Christine
'Fee Day' sounds perfect and just what has been needed. Enjoy your special 'ME' day Fee.

FEE - this is fabulous - I love this idea so much! I'm so happy for you. I think we all need to find the balance...you know the old saying, if mama ain't happy, nobody's happy....I think this is just the ticket. Let's see, what day can I take off, lol??? I wish you every happiness, dear Fee!
A 'Fee' day sounds like a great idea! Make sure you have enough of them in the future too as I find these days free up my creativity and I come up with new ideas.
BRAVO!!! I think you will find if you sew because you WANT TO.. you will create your best work ever..You started on this quilty adventure because you wanted to enjoy it.. It only makes sense that you should be continuing it for the same reason.. pure JOY! Have some fun FEE :)
Sounds like a perfect arrangement - Enjoy all the minutes!
Your stitching is always so pretty - love the Henrietta Whiskers block.
Yes, you go girl. We all can do it - and be better wives and mums because we look after ourselves.
Have fun and enjoy who you are.:-)
We all need a Fee (Me) day, it is great therapy and also helps with the sanity . Also my favourite saying, I seem to find reason to say it most days. Enjoy today and all your Mondays Fiona. Cheers Pat.

Woohoo Fee.....that's a great choice! If we don't look after number one, everyone else suffers so it's important to put you first!

Good for you! Sometimes we get so busy doing thing we forget to enjoy them. It takes a wise person to recognize this is what is happening to them and an even wiser one to do something about. Enjoy your day and many more to come!
What a great idea. I love your new projects too. Have lots of fun today.
Dear Fee,a Fee day, that is fantastic, you go for it and I`m sure it will recharge you, and things will get better than ever, your designs are so pretty, I love then, and your blog too. Angela.
Hi Fiona....good on you. Several years ago I started giving myself Mondays off. Some Mondays I sew, some I go for visits, walks, shopping, and sometimes I purposely do nothing. It's sort of an empowering choice. Enjoy.
