The Gathering

Here is the prize for my giveaway all wrapped up and ready to give to the winning blogger.

The winner was Vicki who was very shocked to find out that she had won.  Vicki lives at the other end of Tasmania from me but she travelled down to be apart of the bloggers table at the Quilted Crow's Gathering on Saturday so I was able to hand deliver it.

She loved her prize and says that she is going to have to hide it from some fellow bloggers up her way - LOL

Our bloggers table was a lot of fun - So much fun in fact that I forgot to take photo's but I did manage to snap this one of Sarah and Leanne.

And this is a shot of us all together - From Left to right in the front - Sarah, Jo, Me, Jan (Who travelled over from Victoria).  Back row Left to right - Leanne, Razzy, Libby & Vicki

There were some lovely projects on display from Rosalie Quinlan, Leanne Beasley and the Crow Girls but I chose to buy a kit for the needle roll by Leanne and made a start on it throughout the day.

It is really sweet and has a lot of stitching + some dresden's

As you can see I did produce something on the day.......

2 and a bit half dresden's - The pattern requires 4 so I am over half way

And a few yummy purchases for an upcoming project

Yesterday after finishing the household duties I put together my first 3 blocks of Tis The Season I am using stash for this one.

And I bound a quilt which has just returned from being quilted - Can you guess what the quilt is?

Have a wonderful week.

We have a Winner !!!!

It's Friday again already.  It seems that the weeks are just flying by.

I have spent quite a bit of time this week on Sam's Birthday Quilt but still do not have it finished - I am hoping to get it finished in the next few days.

I have a few designs at different stages at the moment for upcoming publishing in various forms and then I want to make myself one of these table runners just for ME.  I never seem to make anything for me. Are you like that always making things but never anything for yourself?

These are not great photographs of it but it is a runner I made for our Gumtree Swap at our recent Gathering.  Dawn drew out the number for this runner and I drew out hers so we swapped.  I will have to get Dawn to take a clearer photo for me.  I will also photograph the one I received from Dawn too over the weekend.

It is a variation of my "Lorraine's Flowers" table runner which will appear in next month's Patchwork & Stitching.

I have drawn the winner of my giveaway.  Thanks so much to everyone for entering and for all of the lovely comments.  I felt very humbled reading them and I "heart" every one of you.

I promise that I will have a little something for you all in the first edition of my newsletter which will land in your "inboxes" in the next week or so.  If you didn't sign up for the newsletter it is not too late just enter your name and e-mail address in the form at the top right of my blog.

Wow !! 272 Comments.  Random.Org got to draw the winner and it was comment No 91.  Vicki from Vix's Crystal Ball - Congratulations Vicki!!  I should add that Vicki put on her blog that she never wins anything.  Your luck must be changing Vicki.

I am off to the Quilted Crow's gathering tomorrow so will be back on Sunday with lots of news I am sure.  Have agreat weekend.

Love and Hugs,

The Weekend has almost arrived....

It is after 5pm on Friday here so it is officially the weekend and good news the sun is shining here in Tassie.

Do you have anything special planned this weekend?  Some of my bloggy friends are off on retreats including the Girls Day in The Country at Nundle - I know that they will all have a wonderful time.  I am going to have a little bit of "Fee" time this weekend.  2 Magazines that I recently subscribed to have arrived from the US.

As well as this lovely book which I recently ordered.  I can't wait to open the pages.  The front quote says it all "A dare to LIVE FULLY right where you are"

I know that lots of bloggers have this book and rave about it so after this weekend I will tell you what I think.

I couldn't resist taking this pic of my pink and purple glass grapes sunbaking in the afternoon sun - Don't they look pretty.....

I also hope to get out in the garden this weekend and spend a few hours pottering.

You never know I might even uncover some of my missing faeries in my garden like this little one.....

And hopefully I can grab a few more hours to do a bit of work on a quilt I am making for Sam's 21st.  I am making it out of my scrap basket - A sort of frugal challenge to myself.  I am also going to use the quilt as you go method.

It is going to be really bright and I know that she is just going to love it - Only problem is that they have a king size bed - OMG  what have I done??????

Anyway I had best be off - Hubby has offered to take me out for dinner and I am not saying no to that one.

Before I head off I wanted to tell you about some of the Japan Quake Appeal Auctions happening around blog land.  You can find the master list HERE.  I will be placing numerous bids to help in the raising of funds.  Pop over to my dear friend Allie's blog to read about her auction.

Have a lovely pieceful weekend.

Weekly Catch Up

Look what arrived at my place this week.  My Backing Kit, Background Fabric and 1st Month of Cottage Charm the BOM that I signed up for with Fat Quarter Shop.

It even comes with all of these cute pre-printed window scenes.

Aren't they gorgeous?

When I got home from work yesterday I couldn't resist opening it and looking at all of the gorgeous Robyn Pandolph fabrics included.  I then decided that I would piece it together.  The instructions were great and after only 1 episode of reverse sewing the block was together.

The instructions tell you to blanket stitch applique but I am going to give needle turn a go with this one and my gogeous friend Maree who has an on-line shop "Ollie & May" sent me a reel of "Bottom Line" Thread and some No 11 Millners Needles to try so now I have the block ready to start needleturning and will show you my progress in a few days.

This is what the finished quilt will look like.

I have also been busy working on my "Henrietta's Whiskers" Blocks.  I am now up to date and am waiting for the 5th April for the next block.  Maddie loves the little cushion I made her from the first mucked up block so I am sure she is going to love the finished quilt at Christmas time.

And I have been working on another secret project which I know that you are all going to love.  More news on that to come very soon.

I thought that I would also take the opportunity today to show you some recent patterns of mine that have been published.  This is my Shabby Gal Tote which is in Handmade Magazine Volume 28 No 11.

And my floral Heat Pack in Handmade Magazine - Volume 28 No 10

And a "Friends Love" in Patchwork & Stitching Volume 11 No 10.

I hope you have a lovely end of the week and an even better weekend.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Japan who have suffered such terrible tragedy.

Having a Lazy Day

Firstly I would like to say a huge thankyou to you all for leaving those lovely messages about our loss of Monty.  We know that we made the best decision for her and that our grief was not only because of the loss of her but because of having to make that difficult decision.  Dreamer cried for her all of yesterday but has settled back down today and is playing happily with Jack - So that is a small blessing.

I have not felt like doing much labourous work and have just lazed around stitching and scrapping really.  This is the stitchery which you can find over at the Gumtrees Blog of Jenny Hoot's trip to Queensland.  I think it looks nice just framed.

Today Amy and I decided that we would make a mess and do some scrapping - We are really messy scrappers !!  I have had these vintage note books + some others for a little while and wanted to make something for myself so I glued and pasted and came up with these :-

2 Little note books to donate for the raffle table at the next cat show. (Jack's First)

I turned the index book into a address book to keep the contact details of all of my blogging friends.  This has been on my "To Do" List for ages - Now I just have to find all of my little scraps of paper with people's addresses on them and fill it up.

And then I made myself a new Christmas Gift Book - I want to start crossing things off now for christmas gifts so this will give me a head start.

And finally I made myself a new "Book of Lists" - I like to write myself lists and then cross them off as I achieve them - It gives me something to strive for and I feel much more organised once I have a list.

I have also spent quite a bit of time snuggling up with this young fellow.  He is bird watching in this shot.  He is soooo naughty but gorgeous !

And I have wandered around my garden picking flowers.

So right now I am going to continue on my lazy day way and pop some of this gorgeous Raspberry Coulis Wax Tart into the burner

And do some more work on my latest design set

Using some gorgeous Woollen Felt and ceramic buttons.

I hope you too are having a nice relaxing weekend.

Over the Rainbow Bridge

Last night our beloved 12 1/2 Year old brown burmese baby "Monty" walked the rainbow bridge.

Her kidneys had failed and both hubby and I were with her when she went to sleep.

We are heart broken.  Sleep peacefully Mont.

They say memories are golden well maybe that is true

I never wanted memories, I only wanted you

A million times I needed you, A million times I cried

If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died

In life I loved you dearly, In death I love you still

In my heart you hold a place no one could ever fill

If tears could build a stairway and heartache make a lane,

I’d walk the path to heaven and bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same

But as we are called one by one the chain will link again
